Embryn as always went along with their funny jokes, and Kalasyn was glad to hear Serena join into their fun with a question about horns. For a moment she tried to picture the woman with horns and even pictured the suggestions that Embryn had made. "I agree, antelope horns would look rather lovely on you!" It was strange how talking of Serena growing horns or the fact that they were betting on the number of tails that she would be able to call her own.

Her head tilted when she heard the flame-kissed woman speak of her first breakfast as a pack wolf. Embryn turned to Quest and began to talk of them becoming official and building dens in a place that they would claim as home. Kalasyn couldn't help but hold her breath. They had been talking of this for a while and now it was possible to really happen. She wanted to jump and scream but it wouldn't be approiate, Quest needed to say something first didn't he?

She couldn't hold herself silent anymore when it was said that they would be a Coterie. Kalasyn beamed, her new tails moving to show her joy, though they no longer had the mobility of a single tail. There wasn't enough room for them to properly wag, but they could sway slightly. "I like Coterie, I think it fits perfectly!" Now she just needed her friends to choose the place they would call home.

"I think a pair of antelope horns would be quite fetching!" He said with a playful wink and a grin towards Serena, glad that she was being absorbed right into their little group!

And after when the tails had fully grown in and the bet was made and the time frame of when he was to gather her hare, he replied, "As you wish." Then a glance up at the flame-pelted she-wolf, the black wolf, and the gray as Embryn hinted at what they'd all been working towards. Their first breakfast as a pack wolf? There were enough of them here now... wasn't there? He grinned, pleased at the name that his friend had thought up. He offered his assent with a swift nod of his head. "Heh, yeah, a Coterie full of Insurgents. Er, Coterie Insurgent." His brow furrowed as he seemed to think for a bit before giving his head a shake and eyeing the area around them. Hadn't he and Serena just been talking about this place before the others showed up? He had mentioned how it wouldn't make a bad place and there were good memories here. After all, it was where he and Embryn had first met! So, after a brief moment of deliberation... He lifted his head into the air and let out a long and loud howl, one with intent. The intent to claim this land as their own. For the Coterie.

"Maybe we can dig some burrows out underneath the tree." He laughed. "The roots look big enough, don't they?" It was a joke, really, wolves couldn't live underground in burrows. Could they?

Her new friends had a positive reaction to the possibility of horns, and Serena found herself wondering how she would appear - she could get used to the long, slender horns of an antelope, or little goat nubs. With such a warm reception from the three, Serena almost wished that she would manifest a pair then and there, just so she could match this little company of misfits. But she was patient; in time, she would have her own unique mutations, hopefully just as elegant and interesting as those her friends boasted.

A pack wolf. Serena’s paws prickled with excitement at Embryn’s words. They would have a name now, too. Coterie. “It fits us well.” Serena added with a nod. As for where they would stay, Quest seem to have an answer for Embryn, one that gave an answer to Serena’s own question she had directed to the male before their company had arrived. After a moments deliberation, the earthen male lifted his head to the sky, letting loose a loud, powerful howl that would carry for miles. It was a claim to this land, letting anyone in the area know that the Knotted Tree now belonged to the Coterie.

"Maybe we can dig some burrows out underneath the tree. The roots look big enough, don't they?" Quest suggested, though his laughter hinted that the suggestion of burrows was not entirely serious. Serena chose to give the roots some closer inspection; smaller animals had once made this tree their home - surely they could, too. “Maybe not an expansive network of burrows, but we probably could dig out some sturdy dens here, thanks to these roots.” She turned back to the trio, ears perked as she awaited their verdict.

Her world had seemed rather limited for the last few days, weeks, months it’d been to long for her to remember how long she had been on her own. This new place though was filled with mystery and she found herself even more alone. She’d met a variety of wolves all who seemed so different and that was ok.

Evangeline had heard the calls of others in the not so far off distance. She wondered who was calling others together. In her time here she hadn’t heard calls gathering wolves. In honesty she thought that many of the wolves here were happy being all alone.

The dark woman how ever was very happy that it seemed that someone was gathering. She wasn’t sure if she should go but she almost didn’t care the chance to not be alone caused the woman to bubble as she got to her feet. She started down towards where she heard the sounds emit from. She trotted light with excitement the open plain left the group by the large tree easy to spot. The light scent of those near drifted on the breeze. Two scents though as she got closer she could remember. Quest and Embryn, her tail almost became a propeller as she picked up her pace. Dark paws thumped against the earth as she called out. “Embryn! Quest!” She didn’t know any of the others but now that she was closer she couldn’t mistake Quest or Embryn. “I wanna join.” She almost squealed.

Excitement beat within her breast, setting fire to the diamond pupils nestled within her golden gaze. She waited, her breath anxious, her nerves dancing a merry jig beneath her skin, waiting to hear what the others thought of her proposal. Forming a pack was no trivial thing, and though they had all discussed it before, there was something very different about making definitive plans. The logistics were near at hand. "I like Coterie, I think it fits perfectly!" Kalasyn offered, and Embryn bestowed a beaming smile upon the other woman. It was Quest that Embryn waited for, however, for it was he that had stepped up beside her to share the Alpha position. 'Heh, yeah, a Coterie full of Insurgents. Er, Coterie Insurgent," the feathered male offered. Embryn's tail waved, immediate approval granted and given. "Yes! Hah, I like it. Coterie Insurgent." She tested the name on her tongue, the rise and fall of broken syllables. The name made her smile.

In the midst of grinning widely at the assembled group, Quest threw back his head and howled. It was a claim, an announcement, a summons; Embryn glanced at the male in surprise, her feline eyes darting around to their surroundings. He wanted to claim the Tree as their territory? Initial trepidation gave way to rapid understanding. This was the first place they had met - and the place where they'd gathered the initial number for their pack. The area was open, but it would afford immediate visibility of any trespassers. There was also quite a bit of prey here, what with all the rabbits and larger grazers that would surely migrate here come Spring. Quest brought up another salient point as soon as his howl faded into the distance. "Maybe we can dig some burrows out underneath the tree. The roots look big enough, don't they?" His tone indicated that it was a joke - but Serena modified his efforts, giving some credence to the idea. Embryn studied the tree with a sudden fierce concentration. The grassland was very open...it wouldn't offer shelter from wind or rain. But dens...burrows...tunnels...Well, they would have to try it and see. "I think that's a great idea. The ground is solid enough...and with the roots bolstering the walls, I don't see why we couldn't dig a few big tunnels down there."

She grinned, determination fierce within her gaze. If it didn't work out, they'd just have to find another way to make the Tree and its surroundings grasslands a bit more secure - but she was confident that they would figure something out. Suddenly, the addition of another voice made itself known to the group at large. Embryn turned to see Eva speeding towards them, shouting her and Quest's names. The striped female raised a brow - did Quest literally know everyone on Khrusos? - but she was happy to see her new friend. "I wanna join," Eva offered immediately, her tail whipping around behind her at mach speed. Embryn laughed. "Hey Eva! This is Kalasyn, and Serena - and you already know Quest, I guess," she grinned. "We'd love to have you! We were just talking about digging out a few dens under the tree for the Coterie." Oh geeze, and it even rhymed. If someone didn't make a sonnet about them soon, she'd be sorely disappointed.

Of course, now that they were all but official, there were a few details to take care of. Like hierarchies, and ranks, and all that stuff. Granted, Embryn wasn't much a fan of either concept. "I guess we should figure out the Coterie's structure first, huh?" she offered Quest. "Honestly though, I dunno how much we'll really need to get all formal about it. How about we just put all the hunters and fighters and runners in one group, and all the more intellectual wolves like storytellers and healers in another? And then me and Quest can just be in a group all on our lonesome so that we can watch over everyone equally. And we'll decide really major things all together, as a whole unit, because everyone will be on the same level." As far as rank systems went, it was a fairly straightforward concept - but Embryn detested the idea of raising someone up above another. She would fight tooth and nail against any hierarchy that was based on demeaning anyone else. That would go against the whole point of the Coterie.

It didn't take long before Quest howled their claim and announcement to the heavens. All of Khrusos would know that this place belonged to them. This place was no longer an open space with no one to keep it. From now on the Coterie would live and thrive here at this tree. Kalasyn was surprised to hear them speak of burrows and tunnels but the more she thought about it the idea didn't seem to be a bad one. Each of them could have their own spots and yet they would be connected as well.

The area wasn't the safest but going beneath the tree for shelter would be wise. From there the flatlands would offer them plenty of time to see others before their arrival and being in underground dens would offer them safety when the night was too dark for them to watch properly. Another voice chimed in as a female arrived that Kalasyn had never seen before but without much surprise, the woman knew Quest and Embryn. It seemed even when the dark woman met a new stranger somehow Quest had found them first. The man had a friendly personality, and as time went on Kalasyn was becoming more and more sure that Quest had a special kind of radar for new wolves coming to this land. As Embryn introduced her to the woman name Eva, Kalasyn's dark head dipped politely. "Hello Eva!"

When Embryn mentioned structure Kalasyn's ears perked as she began to pay closer attention. The way it was proposed from Embryn's lips made sense. There was just enough structure that there wouldn't be mass chaos but they would work together as a unit. Together they would make decisions and be as equal as they could. Her tails swayed slightly behind her. This would work, this would be perfect for them all. Together they were all a part of something that would keep them all safe. "It's perfect."

His howl finished and others pitching into his idea had him looking at the tree in a new light. He had only been joking but now that he looked over at the roots and actually studied them... it appeared that they could be used as burrows and possibly tunnels as Embryn had suggested. He walked forward and crouched down, pawing at one of the old burrows that some long-gone animal had called home. He didn't get far with evaluating before he heard a familiar voice call out his and Embryn's name. He cut his burrow-studying short to turn around and see Eva making his way towards them, looking ready and eager to join their newly-made pack!

His tail wagged in recognition and he trotted forward back to the group. "Hell yeah we would! Welcome aboard, Eva!" He grinned before he added on, "Yup! Think we could make something useful and unique here!" It already excited him so! When Embryn launched into the rank ideas he nodded his head in agreement. Momentarily he frowned as he tried to think up the word that encompassed it. "A democracy! Everyone's equal and everyone works towards one whole and the good of the pack!" He nodded resolutely, glad that it was all coming along. "Screw the fancy titles and fancy hierarchy's. We can have our own names for each grouping." Perhaps something chaotic and different to show they were their own weird pack of misfits. It seemed great to him!
