Things had been quiet recently. After his recent excursion into the wilderness to satiate his bloodlust he felt it was time to head back home and recharge... but maybe a bit of prey to gift to someone wouldn't hurt. He wasn't particularly hungry himself but he knew a hare wouldn't be looked down upon by someone else.

Long, lanky legs carried him to familiar territory back out west and as he stopped to inhale the prairie air he could already taste those scents of home. His tails wagged as he picked himself up to a jog and then bolted forward as he spied a hare nibbling on the spring grasses. He knew he wasn't doing a particularly good job of sneaking up on this one but he just couldn't help himself, he needed to run, he needed to feel alive! So, he let out a bark and gave chase like a pup.

The hare took off and he was right on its heels with slender legs carrying him across the ground like wildfire. He knew his actions were juvenile but since when did he care? The hare cut a left and then a right but he kept right on it. For a moment it actually looked as if the hare would outrun him and get away but in the end he snagged it.

Fangs closed down over its neck like a vice and it was all over. With a satisfied chuff he danced a little jig on all four paws before picking up his catch and turning, about to head towards the tree he could make out in the distance.

Hunting was not particularly a quiet task. Especially when one breaks away from the initial stealth of it all. It was the chase that was loud, that rang out to alert both predator and prey that something was hunting, and something else was dying. White’s jaggedly cropped ears swiveled forth as the squeal of a hare and the thudding of paws caught his attention. Golden eyes slowly pulled in the direction as well, only to catch the brief sight of a familiar, fiery wolf chasing the small morsel. Though out of the sunflower field and off his self-made bed, White Timber had been lying down once more. He remained as such until the hunt was over with, watching as Quest caught his prey and killed it quickly. A good lad, then. He did not care to see it suffer. White was fond of the young boy for many reasons, and his nobility was one of them.

It was his dance that made the iron beast chuckle, a heave of his diaphragm and a small snort. The amusement Quest offered White was something not many could pull off. Large, ivory paws pulled beneath the colossal mass of White Timber, thick limbs collecting to cradle his herculean weight effortlessly. Iron strands were rid of debris and dirt particles as he gave a mighty shake, just before shoving off at a brisk trot toward the youth, as he turned and headed away from White. Words were not called out and White made no other sound other than his own thunderous pounds of his paws. He would catch up to Quest soon enough, for that much he was certain.

When he did, White made his announcement, nearing the large tree Quest headed toward.
”It has been some time, boy.”
Unmistakable baritones rang in the atmosphere, a small half grin about his silvery lips, as his pace then slowed to a walk. Auric lenses took to their surroundings, taking mental note of the large timber though making no verbal word about it. He took another gander about, but that was it. Instead, he merely waited for Quest’s reaction to his return, hoping his offer of solace within his pack was still valid.

He had no idea that anyone had been following him, let alone watching him from afar. The youthful boy was blissfully unaware of his own surroundings when it came to anything past his hare and that tree. He could already feel the warm interior of his burrow and the welcoming scents of his packmates. He even allowed his mind to wander to Embryn and wondered if he should drop the hare at her doorstep. A quick surprise gift for the fiery maiden that he'd grown attached to over the seasons. It brought a smile to his face as he turned to head towards her burrow.

”It has been some time, boy.”

He stopped, one ear angling back as his eyes widened. That couldn't be him, could it? He turned turquoise eyes to the man behind him, the large gray brute was there in the flesh. "Tim!!" The hare fell from his maw at his exclaimation of joy and he promptly forgot about it as he ran over to White Timber. He barely managed to check himself before barreling into the larger male but at the last moment he managed to skid to a stop in a play bow while both of his tails rocketed back and forth, giving his rump a weird little shake. "It's great to see you!" His friend seemed no worse for wear and he was glad of it. Nothing treacherous had befallen him and for that he was grateful.

In an instant he remembered the offer he'd given to Timber and how the other male had then-rejected it in favor of adventuring. Was he back now to take him up on it? "Is this just a pleasant visit for my company or did you want to join and make a burrow of your own here?" He gave a cheeky grin as he rose upwards onto all four paws, eager to hear whatever news he brought either way.
